Focus keyword (4 posts)

Can someone help me with a small query about focus keywords.
I am using Yoast and they believe you should have one keyword or phrase.

Should I include the town in the keyword in this case?

For example should the keyword be:

"solar panel installers" or "solar panel installers Scotland"

    "electrician" or "electrician Fife"

Hopefully someone can clarify this for me.

    Thank you.

Have you taken a look over at Yoast's website? I believe you would find the information you seek there. He is pretty good about writing very detailed articles, especially with regard to his own products and how best to use them.

You can also check out Google keyword tool to see how your words/phrases would stack up.

To answer your question in a very general way, it's hard for many new sites to compete with well-established giants so I usually recommend owning a subniche first. So perhaps being the most visible "solar panel installers Scotland" could be a good place to start.

Google keyword tool is instant for finding keyword. The best way to find focus keyword: Pick the main keyword or keyphrase that this post/page is about. The focus keyword is not the meta keywords tag.
