  • I’m using the flickr gallery plugin but would like a little more control in the way it displays. Here are some things I’d like to change, if possible:

    • Would like to keep pic no wider than 430px but I’d like to be able to upload the original size so that when the pic is clicked from my blog it goes to the original, and much larger, version. Currently, however, the pic displayed on my blog is wider than my content area. Click here for example of problem.
    • I would like to center the thumbnails without centering everything else. Currently I have < /center> tags surrounding the php call. It works to center the thumbnails but also centers the descriptions and the breadcrumb trail above which I’d rather not have.
    • <del>Would like to put a little space between the picture title and the picture itself.</del>

I’m not sure if these are things I can control via CSS or if I need to do some HTML hard-coding. As always, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • em…then i think you are looking for pictorialis (worpress hybrid for photoblog) rather than flickr.
    Visit my photoblog at http://photo.alvinwoon.com
If that’s what you are looking for, then try pictorialis. 🙂

Pictorialis isn’t an ideal solution, I’ve come to find out. It’s cumbersom and user-unfriendly; not much in the way of a support community either (relative to WP, anyway).
I’d much rather get the Flickr plugin working, if possible. To that end, I’m re-posing my questions above. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

You could add centering stuff to the flickr-photo class in your CSS to get only your thumbnails to center. As for the size of the photos being too wide, the size comes from Flickr itself. The only option you have is to try scaling down the width in the flickr-photo class or the img tag, but sometimes that can look kind of funky.

    Thanks Ray.
I decided to go with the Simple PHP Gallery instead. Much easier to install and customize.
