Flash Not Working (Upload and media buttons) (3 posts)

    Hi,

I have just installed my third instance of wordpress on a new sub domain.

For some reason - I do not see the flash upload select files button. Likewise the media buttons provided within the post do not bring up the usual selection dialog box (nothing happens when I click on these icons). I am a little confused as to what could be causing the issue as everything works fine on the primary domain and one sub domain.

Can anyone offer any advice on this issue?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kris

    Hi Kris,

Can you still use the Browser Uploader? If so, that could be a workaround until you resolve the issue with the Flash Uploader.

I researched this a bit, and it looks like this has been a common error for many users, sounds like the swfupload folder wasn't uploaded properly during either an install or upgrade. The general recommendation is to download the latest version of WordPress, unzip that to your desktop and then upload the swfupload folder to your wp-includes/js folder on your server. You will want to overwrite the existing swfupload folder.

Please keep us updated, let us know if this fixes the uploader for you.

    Hi,

I can use the browser uploader instead of the flash version. Problem occurs when you insert the image into the post / page. The image needs to be referenced manually (as the media buttons also do not work).

I am using Safari 5.1. I decided to download Firefox 7.0.1 and found that everything worked fine. I think this might be a browser compatibility issue rather than missing / corrupt files.

I just can't work out why it is only affecting one of our sites. Have tried disabling all of the plugins for that instance and saw no improvement.

So for now - I have been using firefox as a work around whilst writing content.
