   I got hacked some time ago and just realized it. (Using an old version of WP.) my blog is over at toberight.com. I deleted the unauthorized users per instructions here, but then I see that every post going back to August 09 is gone!

   Please someone tell me there is someway to get these posts back?

   What should I do?

   Thanks for any help - I'm in a complete panic...

   Your hosting provider may have kept backups of your database or may have even cached the database (until session was destroyed) so it may be a good idea to contact your hosting provider and ask them to give you a copy of your Database.

   This would be my first idea.

   download your database
   http://codex.wordpress.org/Backing_Up_Your_Database

   delete all wordpress files except wp-content folder and wp-config.php
   re-install 2.7.1
   http://wordpress.org/news/category/releases/

   import database
   http://codex.wordpress.org/Restoring_Your_Database_From_Backup

   upgrade to 3.0

   Samuel - the instructions you provide make sense and I will follow them. Will this recover the lost work?

   I don't want to take any steps that will prevent me from being able to recover the posts. (It's a lot of writing!)

   The entries will either be in the database, in which case it might recover them, or they have been deleted by the hacker, in which case they are gone, unless you have an earlier backup (or your hosting provider does.)
