First Time User – Pls forgive newbie question

Hello all. I am brand new to blogging and wordpress inparticular. Please excuse this ridiculous question but I cannot find an answer by searching the FAQs. I am sure it is just my inexperience and should be a relatively easy answer and good for a laugh or two. I won’t take offense 😉

I just registered a domain name (in this example http://www.sonics.com). After installing wordpress, I was intending to edit my wordpress settings that when someone accesses the site, they see the first page of my blog. So I removed the “blog” from blog.sonics.com and I am now stuck in a loop. I cannot log in or access wordpress to fix them!

When I attempt to log in from the wordpress homepage, it does not recognize my email address as a registered user.

Does any of this make sense? Thanks in advance
