Hi all, im new here to the forums and new to wp, I wanted to builda site to host my photography, a friend told me tobuy domain name and hosting, which i did!
i tried thro the host (1and1)who allow me to click and build website and install wp, but its an old version which wont update.
so ive done it all manual via an ftp (filezilla)

I set up my sql database, ran filezilla to upload and everything went smooth, i then installed photocrati theme and i thought everything was going great.
but no matter what i try it keeps showing me the placepage for 1and1
"this domain name has just been registered"

what am i doing wrong or is it something i need to call 1and1 about.

thanks for your kind help and words of wisdom
    merry christmas to you all

    ali

It has been a long time since I used 1 and 1, but I believe they install an index.html or similar file in the root of your domain. It creates the "just registered" page you see.

WordPress, on the other hand, has an index.php file. Almost all web servers, including 1on1's, give priority to index.html/.htm and home.htm/.html and you will never "see" an index.php until you delete them.

More likely, it was an issue with your own browser's caching.
