    Hello everyone,

Thank you for reading my post. This is my first time using WordPress so I am totally new. Before I chose a host site, I checked into wordpress web site for a list of host that supports it. Ipage supposed to have all the wordpress tools available for building a website. I did the 5 minute install, and was able to login into the admin area of my website. In there, there is a link: First Steps with WordPress, which I clicked of course. In there there is a paragraph that says: "At the top of the screen in the area called the "toolbar." Click on the link that is your site name. This will take you to a view of your new WordPress site. Like it? Don't like it? "

I guess I was not sure what that is, so I called for technical support to get me pass that first bump. When I told them I am trying to build the web site with wordpress, they told me I can only create a blog with it :( then they sent me here to ask for help.

Could someone have the patience to take me through the correct steps so I can start building my web site :)

    Thank you guys!

    Steven

they told me I can only create a blog with it

Then they are dead wrong. You can use WP to build a "traditional" web site in the same way that you create a blog. The only difference is that you will be publishing only Pages rather than Posts.

http://theartificers.co.uk/ is an example of a non-blog WordPress site.

I'd suggest that you start by reading:

    Hi Steven,

WordPress used to be only for blogs, but now it's possibilities are limitless. We can help you with specific issues- but since WordPress is so fluid we can't tell you how to build your website. You may want to start by choosing a template that meets the needs of your website.

I'd start with this guide first:

    thanks for your replies guys!

I think I should rephrase my question: Ipage hosting site seems to have the tools I need in order to build my website online, without me needing to install anything in my PC. I just have not figured out yet how to even start, or choose a template.... It is like I am missing the "tabs" for designing the website.... (I am guessing of course)

Hope this question is more straight forward,

    thanks,

    Steven
