My first theme please take a look and make any comments suggestions or criticisms to help me make it better. Is inspired by Wikipedia, am sure this has been done before but could not find evidence of such. Based on the 960 css grid system. Still working on it, need to style the calendar better, need to add some of those cute icons for stuff.
Anyways thank you for your time.

Your transparent image doesn't look so hot in IE 6.

Changed images to jpg with white backgrounds, seems to look ok now.
As for testing in IE browser versions how far back to go?

I'd suggest 6.0. No one really uses 5.5 or 5.0 anymore. (I think the statistic is less than 1% combined.) Besides, the effort required to make a website looks the same in ALL versions of IE isn't worth the small percentage of visitors who might still use those browsers.
