first post doesn't show up

    Just installed WordPress to my root. Logged into WP, created my first post, clicked on Update, then clicked on View Post. What it shows, though, is my existing home page, which is just a JPEG that I prepared as an “under construction” placeholder for my site years ago.

    What am I doing wrong?
