  • I began using the WPfoilio theme on my site recently. The theme is great, but I am having a major issue viewing it in Firefox – seems like a bug to me.

My thumbnail images don’t always load in the same configuration when I am viewing categories:

Instead of a grid, they will load in all sorts of crazy configurations, even in one long single column. If I reload it two or three times, it will eventually load correctly.

    Very weird.

  • Hi there. I am one of the developers of WPFolio.

Thanks for sharing this issue with us. We actually noticed a similar problem on another install recently and are working to figure out what the bug is. We will let you know when we know. Thanks again!

Thanks patrick, great work on the theme by the way. It is very elegant.

You’re only experiencing this in Firefox? That will help narrow it down some…

Well … I’m using FF and that page displays just fine for me. Reloaded 10x and stayed aligned.

Yes, just Firefox. Try this page in Firefox and see what happens:

BTW, it happens almost every time for me (like 98% of the time). But once it loads correctly (after the second or third refresh) it will stay that way.

I say again – the page you linked to displays perfectly for me in FF on the first loading. There are no alignment problems there at all after numerous refreshes.

Weird. I have the issue on two different Macs. What version of Firefox are you using?

Could it be the Delicious bookmarks side bar that I always use in Firefox?

Maybe the side bar is causes the thumbnails to act weird because it takes up a good portion of the screen. I just closed the side bar and restarted Firefox…everything loaded fine on the first attempt.

There you go. Sometimes the most obvious answer is indeed the right answer. Obviously – anything that intrudes on the display of a pages dimensions will affect what you see.

Yes, except that’s not it. I am still having the issue.

    Something else is causing it…

At the risk of repeating myself …, your cited page still displays perfectly in my FF. No issues at all.

I have had this problem in Firefox as well too. (I am using Firefox 3.5). Thumbnails are occasionally bumped to another row. It has something to do with the CSS and the spacing of the thumbnail images. It looks to me like FF is interpreting the width around the images differently on certain occasions. It is one of those mysterious problems that only occur some of the time. I plan to look into it more thoroughly soon and hope to figure it out and will get back when and if I do.

    http://www.davidhumphreynyc.com is the example.

    thanks
    Daniel
