I'm running it, it's really really slick. I never liked Firebird before mostly because it didn't have an installer. I don't know why that bugged me, because Thunderbird doesn't have an installer and I use that. Anyway I could see this becoming my full-time browser.

For anyone stuck with a slow download of FireFox or any other Moz product, try this mirrors site:

    Hope this helps!

I don't know if the Web Develop extension works for Firefox just yet, but it's a must have for Mozilla/Firebird and it will be for Firefox when it runs on it.

    FYI,
The Fire* browser will eventually become the engine for Mozilla itself, which will be nice in that it will reduce duplication of effort for tool and extension developement.
    Cool.

I keep getting "no XBL binding for browser" errors after installing... And then it won't open up. Talk about irritating!

Woohoo, much thanks! Although now I have to reset all my preferences, which is irritating.

antifuse: I think the release notes mention that problem. Try disabling all extensions in fireBIRD, then run Firefox and see if your old profile works.

Thanks for the link! Just started using Mozilla a few months ago and I'm using Firebird now and I love it! :)

Man, I spent all day trying to get FF installed on my Win2K box at work. I had no problem getting the exe; mine was in getting it to work on my machine! I ended up installing FB0.7 and Moz1.6 to try to see if that would help, and ... suck.
I spent the day using IE.

    Fast download:
    ftp://sunsite.rediris.es/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/0.8/
    Nice pix:

    Problem solver:
    http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/releases/#install
"First, if you are running an old version of Firebird or Phoenix, visit the Extensions panel in Tools, Options and disable all of your extensions. If you cannot disable extensions, you must create a new profile before upgrading to Firefox 0.8. If you do not do this, your browser may not work, and you may receive messages like 'Cannot create XBL Binding for Browser' or 'Cannot create Browser Instance.'"
    Keep Clicking :-)

Is it just my installation, or is the scrollbar supposed to be gone in Firefox? Anyone know of a way to get it back?

@Lisa: This has been a common problem on many installs. Take a look at a growing discussion on my blog on how to solve this.

Firefox looks a lot better on OS X than Firebird ever did. I just wish they gave me a keyboard command for moving between tabs. Seems like a pretty obvious UI deficiency to me. That's my only complaint with my default browser.

    Steevak,
Have you tried the Tab browser extension? There is a Firefox version available that I have successfully installed. It may not be what you are looking for, but give it a shot!

Firebird/Firefox has become my default browser on both Linux and Windows. I still have to crank up IE now and then, but I prefer the same experience in both Linux/Win

Lisa, this is likely due to using a theme that hasn't been updated for 0.8, try switching to the default theme and restarting the browser.

    Me like.
Actually, I completely uninstalled both Mozilla and Firebird, then made clean installs of both, instead of my usual just installing over.
I think they both run faster now. Don't know why, but they do.

Firefox should run faster than Firebird, and I had Firebird 0.7 with the Web Developer extension and I had no issues on installing Firefox. I just want to point that out so people don't assume that they will have certain problems upgrading because of extensions.

Spufi is right...so far I've only had to find upgraded extensions for Chatzilla (IRC client) and the Tabbrowser extension. Everything else has worked just fine. I still have Firebird 0.7 installed as well. Figured I may as well for testing sites on different browsers.
