Finding WP Version Number WITHOUT Access to the Front End (5 posts)

I have an old WP site that was hacked a few years ago. Because of that, it was taken offline by my host. However, I still have access to all the files via Cpanel.

I am trying to find the version number of my site, so I can put it on a new server and then begin updating it to the current WP build.

Any idea where I can find the version number in my files? As I mentioned, the site is not visible via the web (even for me), so I need to go into the files to find the number.

    Thanks.

You will need to look in the wp-options table of your database for the db_version value. See http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Esmi/Database_versions

Thanks for answer, but I'm not finding it. This version if fairly old -- maybe 1.2 or 1.5 (not sure).

When I look in the database of a recent version, I see the db_version in the wp-options, but not when I look in the older one that I'm working with.

Do you see a wp_options table?

    Yes, I saw a wp_options table. But there didn't appear to be a db_version.

In any case, I just went back and started with WP 1.2, and it worked.

    Thanks for the help.
