• Hi,

I’m a newcomer to WordPress and looking at themes so I can revamp my site.

Firstly, I’m having difficulty browsing the themes. I can see there are thousands of them but only a few seem to show when I use the links. Is there any way of seeing more than a small sample?

Secondly, I like this site: http://wordpress.org/showcase/lights/ but I see that the theme is made for the site. Is there any theme that would come close to it? Or any way of “cloning” it? 😉

Thirdly, is it straightforward to make minor changes – things like colour, font etc. to a theme?

  • Firstly. Eh? Are you looking here? http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ What do you mean that the links don’t work?

Secondly. Yes she looks lovely. I don’t know a similar theme by heart.

Thirdly. That depends. When you get a get a theme with features, you can edit background colours, header images, etc. from the WP dashboard. More and more of such themes are released, Atahualpa is the most famous. In the theme tag interface look for the features. When you have a ‘traditional’ theme, you’ll have to learn a bit of CSS and PHP coding for such changes.

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes, that’s where I’m looking. I can see there are over a thousand themes but if I look in the links on that page they are to individual themes. I can’t find a list of all of them.

So I should look for a theme with “features”?

Although I’m not averse to learning some simple css or php, if a theme can do it on the dashboard for me that would be easier 😉

Go here and check your preferences.

the features such as custom background and the like will be helpfull.
