started installation before vacation and came back to finish = big mistake ;-)

i am up(?) but not sure of what i am supposed to see. right now it says "My Blog" with no categories, no posts - just a search menu.

there is a "login" link but i cannot seem to get in because invalid username, etc.

    1) can i find user name, password to get in via phpmyadmin or msql? can i create new ones? i deleted all files and did a complete reinstall of wordpress files but do not get the usual installation windows, just the same thing as described above.

    thanks. r

Resetting Your Password should get you going.

    ok,

i went through phpmyadmin and found this...

    1) does not have a login or pass ID to edit.
    2) there is a warning! it says two indexes appear equal and one should be removed...

    user_login unique user_login
    user_login_key index user_login

I'd backup my database then rebuild the tables.

The table wp_users has these indexes:

i also went to a site i am familiar with via phpmyadmin, saw all the id's etc. i don't think there is a user on this site. all space usage items = 0 if that is an indicator. i can see all the tables but there does not appear to be any data anywhere,

maybe it is easier to start entirely over? remove wordpress from server. delete database. reinstall, etc...

note: i have my isp technicians recreate a database name and password for me for my config.php = i have had to do that every time. so i hope a step is not bypassed.

if answer is yes, let me know if there are any cache issues, etc, thanks. ron

ok, i am in. i did not do a complete reinstall. i deleted all the tables in the existing database via phpmyadmin. i deleted and reinstalled a new wp-config.php file. lesson learned. don't start something if you can't finish it when all the details are fresh in your mind!
