Filtrify and WordPress Categories - Multiple Category Filter (4 posts)

    Hi All,

I hope someone can help with this.

What I want to do is create a filter on the archive.php page. All the posts in the archive are broken into multiple categories using both Parent and Child categories.

I am hoping to have the filter select posts by selecting the different categories from multiple drop downs. The result will be the same as the multiple categories option of the Filtrify filter:
    Filtrify

I have already tried multiple different plugins for this and unfortunately none have worked. The closest I came to a plugin (that was not buggy)was the Quicksand Filter - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quicksand-jquery-post-filter/. This plugin did not use drop down menus or group categories by parent and child.

What I need to know is if there is a way of calling in specific WordPress Categories into the Filtrify filter and how this would be done?

I appreciate any help with this.

    Thanks

    Damien

    Hi spoonuniversity,

What I did in the end was create different Custom Post Types, each with unique sidebars. I created Taxonomies that I needed to reflect the categories for the filter and then used http://wordpress.org/plugins/taxonomy-picker/ to create the filter on each page.

    So, I have:
    Custom Post Type 1
    - Taxonomy 1
    - Taxonomy 2
    - Taxonomy 3

    Custom Post Type 2
    - Taxonomy 1
    - Taxonomy 2
    - Taxonomy 3

    etc

I have created single-custom1.php and single-custom2.php with the Taxonomy Picker filter in the sidebars.

I didnt bother with Filtrify in the end myself as this workaround worked for me.

Hope that gives you some new ideas!

    Damien
