Hello, all!
I'm working on a travel blog for a client who is about to embark on a 'round-the-world tour, and, as is typical for me, I came up with an idea I can't quite bring to fruition :)
My thought was to place a flattened globe-style map at the top of the home page, and to break it into smaller "clickable" bits - say, by continent or something. Then, magically, when a user comes to the site and says "I'd like to read all the posts about traveling in South America!", they could mouseover the map, see South America change color to indicate it's in focus, click on it and be given all the posts geotagged within that region.
I can produce the graphic and the rollovers and whatnot [likely via Flash, though we could change that if it makes a difference], and I've loaded Geolocation and GeoMashup into the Plugins menu [only the latter is currently active], but I really don't quite know how to go about having the little map graphic send that filtering request. I presume it's just a php function, and not something I'd need to really load anything else to do, yes?
If there are any of you who are good with this sort of thing, I would be forever indebted to you if you could even point me in the right direction. Thank you so much!
Best wishes and a Happy New Year!
Tom.
