    Exactly, without “filter” features Marco has mentioned it is only a beta concept, unfortunately. I am looking forward for new version.

    As WordPress 3.5 will now deal with media in the admin as a custom post type, it should be possible to register taxonomies which show in the UI out-of-the-box. It should also make it easier to add a taxonomy to filter images in the admin too.

    I will also need to investigate the new Media UI in WordPress 3.5 and see if taxonomies can be handled in there somewhere.
