Filesystem Secruity and Permissions Error

Hello!

Please, under the filesystem security options -> I am not able to change the permissions of the root directory from 0750 to 0755. I’m getting the following error:

“Unable to change permissions for [path-of-the-root]”

The problem is that my backup plugin is not working as well as it needs the root directory to have the permission (0755) rather than (0750).

Anyone can help me in solving this problem?

It might be that your particular host setup does not allow plugins to have the privileges to change folder permissions.

As a workaround, are you able to change the permissions of the folder using an FTP client or via CPANEL?

Hello! Thanks for your reply.

Technically speaking, i am using the same hosting provider (ipage.com) for all of my websites and all of them uses your plugin without any issues. It is good to note as well that all websites of my network have similar set of plugins and configured in similar fashion.

I tried to change them from the FTP but it wouldn’t change the root folder for some reason. Speaking of the cPanel, i am not able to find any way to change the permissions of the root from the interface. I can change the permissions of any subfolder, but for the root, it is kinda not clickable.

If i am going to contact my hosting provider to solve for me this problem, what shall i say? should i describe my problem exactly as i stated above? or there is a better technical explanation that i can use instead?

For all members on here who faced the same problem, the only solution is for you to contact your hosting provider. Many hosting providers does not allow their users to change the permissions of the root folder by themselves. I solved my problem by reaching up to them.
