Hello,
I have a question.
If i want to change a template(file)with the build-in text editor I can't save it.
The following message appears:
You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information.
The only way I can solve this is to Chmod the files to 777.
But this isn't really save to leave the files in 777.
Is there another way to make and leave these file writeable?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Richard

agreed. furthermore, use a text editor and not a html client such as FrontPage or DreamWeaver... those creatures can add junk you really don't want.

Hello,
I am so totally clueless as to how to do this. Could someone explain this to me in terms that a dummy can understand? I got the same thing when I tried to update my sidebar. I created a new page, that much I could figure out. But when I published it, nothing new showed up on my sidebar. I figured out I need to update sidebar.php, but it says I have to make the file writeable. Hence, I got to this question on the wordpress site. Please help!
Thanks.
