• Hey ulfben,

First of all, thanks for the plugin, it’s been a fantastic help for me. However I have a slight usability problem that I’m hoping to resolve.

I’m using categories for the upload directory structure. The problem is, if a user uploads something before choosing a category, the uploads go to the default directory. I understand of course why this happens, but it’s a bit of a problem since I have files being saved in the wrong directory.

More generally this of course applies to changes in categories as well. If the category of the post is changed after the upload, the file is not moved to a different directory.

Would it be possible to add this functionality? This would solve both use cases.

    Thanks!

Custom Upload Dir will probably never support something like this. Messing with the filesystem is just asking for problems.

Specifically; even if WordPress has a good API for dealing with the file system and keep the database in sync (it does not), the plugin would have to manually update all posts, comments, pages and widgets were an uploaded file might have been referenced.

This is a shortcut to Disaster Land.
