Not sure if this question should be here or in the extensions section, it’s a pretty basic ‘how to’ question really.

If the idea of Feedburner is to redirect your feed to their site for management (and monetizing) where your feed can then be sent off to different readers, then would a person also need Chicklet Creator or a similar plugin to add a bunch of RSS reader links to the blog page? Wouldn’t that be redundant and possibly less profitable?

    Thanks for your time.

  • Adding chiclets on your page is merely a convenience for subscribers. If you’re using Feedburner then all the subscriptions go through them, regardless of how the feed is accessed.

If you have a chiclet for, say, Google reader, then I can subscribe in that reader with just one click. If you only have the FB/RSS symbol then I have to click twice.

You can also generate chiclet code for a slew of different ones in your FeedBurner account and then paste them all in a single text box in a widgetized sidebar.

Thank you for replying VeraBass. If I understand you correctly, Feedburner will create chiclets for me, which would perhaps skip the step of going to a ‘FEED’ page to click on a compatible reader. Which means I can use Feedburner for monetization and still provide one-click solutions to subscribing (via Feedburner generated chicklets) right on my main blog page.

    Thanx.

FeedBurner doesn’t create the chiclets in your blog. There is a page in your FB account where you can generate the code for different chiclets. Then you have to copy and paste it into a sidebar textbox or wherever you want it.
It’s an alternative to a chiclet plugin if you’re concerned about over-loading with plugins.
