  • Wow! It’s valid! Do you have any idea just how rare that is?

Nice design. Good line heights. If I have one quibble about readability, it’s that the light blue links are a little hard on the eyes. A higher contrast might be a bit better.

No “Search” button? I rarely use them myself (I just hit “enter” and then get really peeved if that doesn’t work) but I can see some users being a bit confused and looking around frantically for some sort of button to click on. You might want to check out the Search using a non-existent keyword like “wibble”:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ELSE in /home/[...]/search.php on line 20

Good meta titles – although you might get slightly better SEO if you reversed the order and placed the post title first on single post pages. Ditto actually having a real blog name in the H1 and then positioning off-left using CSS so that it doesn’t overlay your graphical header. Right now, Google is going to see “————” for your all-important H1 – which is a real waste of a good SEO opportunity. Plus it will look/sound awful in non-graphical browsers.

Shall I shut up now? and should I mention that I review sites in my spare (hah!) time? So I can be hyper-critical…

Thank you sooo much Esmi! I really appreciate how much time you spent doing that for me.

I fixed the search issue. Still no button, but I might work it in there sometime.

I put my post date and info at the bottom of each post. Since my comment link is there anyway, I think it looks better having all that stuff in one place.

Made the blue links darker, except on the post title, I think the font is big enough that it’s okay, at least on my screen. How about yours?

I’ve been meaning to figure out how the H1 thing–I knew how to make the text indent and not show, but I couldn’t figure out how to make just that area of the header clickable. I was about to ask you, but I played around a little bit and figured it out!

Now my only issues–that weird footer thing I asked about in the other post, and the comment numbers are messed up in IE, but if I fix them there, they’ll look wrong in Firefox. Unless I’m missing something. (which I probably am!)

Thanks for the feedback. Any and all is welcome!

Ohhhh, okay, so I went to your blog and read your first post and now I see what you meant by meta titles! Read up on it, and I think I’ve got it worked out right now. Thanks!

Well, I launched it. Is there a way to edit my first post? Here’s the site: http://simplymother.com
