Quick Cache (Speed Without Compromise)
Features Removed. (6 posts)

Unfortunately, it appears that the developer has decided to remove various important features from the latest version of Quick Cache (such as the ability to exclusion certain url patterns which is essential for compatibility with plugins such as Woocommerce). The features were removed and added to a new commercial version of the plugin.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to sell a premium plugin. However, by removing features from the free version, the latest version of Quick Cache now breaks certain websites.

    This is a dangerous practice.

I concur, and will be migrating off of this. Breaking websites is very bad, especially intentionally.

I removed Quick Cache, and my site works faster.

Previously, I had used Quick Cache for 2 years and thought it improved site speed. Now I'm not quite so sure.

Since admins and logged in members do not see cached pages, we did not realize for several weeks that the general public only saw stale pages - 4-5 days old!! Our traffic dropped seriously from previous levels, and it will take time to build up again.

The only problem I've found to be a serious issue for a free version is the caching of the RSS feeds that prevents a feed update, at least with feedburner. RSS is a feature that I'd assume most bloggers use to promote their site.

W3TC does not work for me reliably, and WP Super Cache broke my site in Firefox. Quick Cache works for me, with good performance, and no site effects for me yet, apart from the feed issue.

@CFS If there are features you feel should be in the free version, please let me know and I will consider bringing those back in. This plugin had previously not been updated in over two years and we did a complete rewrite when we created a premium version. The last thing I want to do is break websites; that is unacceptable to me. I will be bringing the URI Exclusion Patterns feature back into the free version in a future update.

@cnxsoft I'm working on fixing the feed caching issue and you will see this fixed in the next maintenance release. Thank you for your patience.

@cnxsoft Quick Cache v140104 includes new options for feed caching, with feed caching now disabled by default. Please update to the latest version and let me know if you have any issues.
