[resolved] Featured Image question (4 posts)

    I've just updated an existing blog site to Responsive. Love the theme. Created a child theme and all is working well. Except:

    Because it was a legacy site - some of the images were in the media library and the bulk were inserted from URL.

    Everything worked beautifully until I decided to include a featured image. That's when things came to a grinding halt.

    Those images called from the image library formatted flawlessly - but I was not able to access any of the images inserted from URL.

    "No problem", I thought. I then updated the database to duplicate all of the images to make them accessible in the media library as well. Then I linked to these images using the featured image function and these new images appeared on the page at full size. Why?

    An example can be seen here

    Please help.

    Pretentette,

    Please try http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ in some cases we would need to regenerate them to get the right size, usually when changing the thumbnail sizes and or switching Themes.

    Thanks,
    Emil

    Thanks for your help and the great theme, but we are not there yet. Regeneration successful with about 50 fails - but that's okay.

    Same picture - it's gif by the way. Still not working. Checked the files on the remote site and the 150X150 thumbnail is there.

    Additionally when I try to edit the image within the menu library - edit media - the image does not appear in the edit window. So I'm stuck.

    This is how the code appears for the vase piece in the post archive.

    <div class="post-entry">

    <img class="alignleft wp-post-image" width="114" height="150" alt="Blue vase - pastel" src="http://www.joolsweb.com/pontificates/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/vase.gif">

    yet the same archive but a working one says:
    <div class="post-entry">

    <img class="alignleft wp-post-image" width="150" height="150" alt="Thatch drawn then coloured in Photoshop illustrator" src="http://www.joolsweb.com/pontificates/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/drawigng-150x150.jpg">

    Both images uploaded via the featured image function.

    Okay - I've recreated the image as a JPG and solved the problem for that image. I've looked at some of the other images that I wanted to use and they are already JPG's - but they seem to fall into the list of thumbnails that failed to regenerate. So now I will move over to the forum on the regenerate thumbnails plugin to pursue the issue.

    Again thanks for your help - the theme and any other suggestions that you might have.
