    I am looking to create a Featured Post area similar to the one on http://thepioneerwoman.com/. If any of you have or know of good tutorials for this sort of thing, could you share them?

    Here's what I'd like to do:
    The featured content slider would have 5 categories. The user would be able to click on an icon to display the featured content for that specific category.
    The display would be a large image, the navigation icons above the image, and the post info would display below the large image (something like Post Title and maybe a date or byline).

    I have seen some tutorials on creating a basic featured content slider, but haven't found a good one that covers what I am looking to do. So, I'd appreciate any suggestions.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. That's done by jQuery Carousel.

    The basics of how THAT works: http://dre.im/how-to-create-a-jquery-carousel-with-wordpress-posts/

    So if you want to use special ones per category, you'd add in wrappers around the content for the category.

    Thanks for the response. Could you elaborate on this a bit more? I'm not total following.

  4. Actually a quick check and dre did that for you :)

    <?php query_posts('showposts=4&cat=5'); ?>

    That says 'Show me 4 posts from cat #5'

    So change it to what you need. You can pull multiple categories etc.
