Would it not be great when you are logged in and you visit your profile and next to “User Activity” there would be a link “Recent Activity”. And when you clicked that you would see if topic’s you have ever answered or started has a new post in the last week. The list of topics would only show posts where you are not the last poster. This way you dont have to go back 6 pages to see if anyone has posted something new on old topics.

  • I think this has been at the top of the mod/admin request list for years! However, I gather that, due the way that bbPress works, this isn’t as easy as it might sound. The team who have been very hard at work upgrading the forum are aware of this request and I’m sure that, if it’s humanly possible, they will try to implement it at some point.

It just might be a little while…

Thank you esmi. I haven’t searched for it in this forum but I thought beforehand that it would probably have been mentioned before. I didn’t think it would be so difficult to implement but sometimes these things can be deceiving. topic resolved!

Well I made myself a handy little app that does this for me. You can try it out here: http://www.stoerke.be/recentforumactivity/

    Nice! 🙂

Thanks esmi. I updated the app already. It is now much faster because of just the one query to the Yahoo servers in stead of the three in the original code.

That is a really nifty(cool) little page.

Loads pretty quick considering, very nicely done.. 🙂

Would love to see the code involved, as i could really use a script like that for tracking responses. Be happy to keep the code to myself if there’s any concern about code distribution, i’d simply appreciate a copy to run on my local installation (if you don’t mind).. 🙂

Thanks, this is certainly useful for power-forum-users. There is no concern about code distribution. Do with it what you like, distribute it, build upon it, I don’t care. You can download it at the the very same page (most right column): http://www.stoerke.be/recentforumactivity/. it’s called recentforumactivity.zip. I’m running it of a local installation as well.

Awesome, thanks … will check it out when i’m back at the dev PC.. 🙂

I downloaded a copy and it suddenly stopped working. So just downloaded a fresh copy, and still it doesn’t work locally for me anymore. Keeps coming back with: Invalid profile! (check if wordpress.org is online)

But still seems to work from your site.

For information, you can now subscribe by email to topics.

😛 for every thread I post in? I’d rather not…

maybe we should bug whoever is looking after the forum to create a way to list them automatically 😉

Email wouldn’t really be my bag either, but strangely it seemed to be a fairly desired feature. I guess it’s more useful for folk asking one question, than those answering many.

agreed, for that it is extremely useful.

I just downloaded a fresh copy from the site and installed it on my local machine and submitted your profile and it works, so I don’t really know what the problem is.

it’s strange because it was working fine. And it stopped.

Checking again today .. it works!

very strange, but probably a simple routing issue from my ISP.
