• Hello, I was looking for a simple code someplace on the internet to simply for example show a picture with 100% width and keep the same aspect ratio for the height automatically.

So one could show nice big pictures in ones blog posts that tak up the maximum space and for smaller screen resolutions they would stay the good aspect ratio and show smaller.

On the internet I found this:

    http://www.trisweb.com/zpslidertest/Slider+Test+Album/

it’s based on the information here:

    http://www.trisweb.com/archives/2005/12/13/iphoto-like-image-resizing-in-zenphoto/

    and here:

    http://www.agilepartners.com/blog/2005/12/07/iphoto-image-resizing-using-javascript/

It has a slider, and “progressively loads higher resolutions as you slide”.. That sounds awesome. So one could post pictures in the blog posts that are a certain width by default, and then people can slide the “Thumbnail size” slider located at the header of the blog, to have larger thumnails shown as they wish, and it loads the higher resolution thumbnails progressively..

One very nice feature would then also be that it keeps in the user’s cookie file and in the logged-in members preferences (if logged in) the preference for thumbnail size to be shown when that users comes back or when he clicks around the pages of the WordPress blog.

A user-friendly way to do it would be if one could upload a full resolution image from within the WordPress wp-admin/post.php page as one usually can upload pictures for the post and it would automatically generate all the resized thumbnails to be used. Or else a code to paste when including a picture in a post to have that picture part of the blog thumbnail size slider system.

I would find this code usefull for the presentation of video-blogs. You can my example here http://videofrom.cn I would like the screenshots to be 100% of the width available f the user wants it or become smaller thumbnails if the user wants to more easilly browse around the blow without too much scrolling.

Okay! I hope someone else thinks this would be an interesting plugin for wordpress, to have a slider in the header and a way to use the reisizing keping-aspect ration of images in posts and pages..

I’d be willing to donate 200$ if someone can make this before the 8th of March. That’s when I would like to have it for this video-blog http://cebitvideo.com where I will have lots of videos and screenshots for each of them to hopefully be displayed nicely.

And thanks if anyone can point me to the right direction for at least some of code for the keeping-aspect ratio at 100% width for images in any situation and where the javascript and/or CSS or other code is compatible with WordPress..

and comments about this feature to be a good idea or not, if it will stay compatible with all platforms and browsers or there could be problems, if you think pictures could look bad even though they would allways keep their aspect ration.

eigther it should generate all the thumbnails automatically, or else the progressive download of thumnails is not very important feature, simple resizing of a good resolution image could be fine. Or if there are possibillities to have different resolutions for each picture, then one could generate them oneself with a image resizing program before uploading them to a specific folder.

you might want to try posting your $ offer on a site like rent-a-coder
