Assuming I haven't overlooked this as a setting somewhere, it might be a good idea to adjust double opt-ins so that they're only required once. I noticed return readers at my site always had to double opt into to any comment thread they wanted to follow. Once an email is confirmed it shouldn't really be required of the user to continue double opting in from then on. Just a thought!
Good point! It's already on my todo list, though :) Just been too busy with work (sob) to update my plugin...

That's no excuse bro! ;)

Yeah I know what that's like. I just treat my full time job as something I do in my spare time. My REAL job is my blog. :-D
Sshhh, your boss could be reading this forum :)

maybe gurken could help you ;)
it is really annoying to double check every subscription on the same site.
I know... I understand. I've started working on a new engine that does not rely on a separate table anymore. I will probably release a new version in a few weeks just to test the new engine, and then will start adding these other features :) One of them will be the one you suggested, another is to give your users the option to subscribe only to the replies to their comments.
Stay tuned.
Camu
I was thinking about your feature request (double opt-in only once), and I realized that it could be a problem if other people used my email to subscribe to comments. The system would not be able to distinguish between the 'real' me and 'fake' me, and would activate that subscription without my consent. Isn't this against the law in Germany?
What do you think?
Camu
That's already the case now since I don't use double opt-in (it's just too much trouble and the number of subscriptions only spiked when I removed it.)
Maybe include it as a third option then? Double opt-in only once, double opt-in every time, or no double opt-ins at all.
Hm, I'd rather not make things even more complicated. I've already implemented the "double opt-in once" feature, which of course remains optional :)
Camu
That's fine, whatever works best for you and makes the plugin easier to maintain. :-D
Hey, don't forget to vote for my plugin, once the new version is out!

I would favor removing the need for double opt in for users that have logged in and have already confirmed for another post. That would prevent others from signing you up for comments, as if they aren't signed in as you and just enter your email, it would send you a confirmation. But if you sign in to your account, it would directly subscribe you without the confirmation email every time.
This has already been implemented in 2.0.2 :)
