Feature images appear blurry (6 posts)

    Hello,
All of the featured images on our site appear blurry. I tried uploading them exact column width at 72 dpi, tried uploading higher resolution and nothing changed.

All of the images are optimized using photoshop prior to upload and are not much wider than the actual column width, but after that they change quality, I cannot edit HTML code for the feature images because feature images are not a part of the post.

The odd thing is, they upload correctly, they just change in post, for example:
In MEDIA preview for single image, it appears sharp: http://www.quipmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Junglegym1.png
But same image in post is blurry: http://www.quipmag.com/sisters-doing-it-for-themselves/

    Same goes for .jpeg images:
MEDIA view: http://www.quipmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/The-Invisible-at-The-Phoenix-12.jpg
Post view: http://www.quipmag.com/interview-with-the-invisible/

    Any suggestions?

  3. The image is actually http://www.quipmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/The-Invisible-at-The-Phoenix-12-659x439.jpg for the second link. That's what it's showing on the page source. So the issue here is your compressed images don't look as sharp.

And yes, this is true. Compressed and resized images don't look as sharp in general. The problem is not your upload resolution as much as the size being displayed. If you upload images to the exact size of your featured image, you should have much less a problem.

    Hello,

The media link I gave you was the one i got from going into the media library and clicking on the view image. I've changed the image to the exact column width at 72dpi and the issue remains the same:

    Exact image: http://www.quipmag.com/sisters-doing-it-for-themselves/
    Original image: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stephencaissie/10906319983/in/photostream/

    Thank you!
