Support » Plugin: WP Social AutoConnect » FB Login and then Disappears

I have three sites using WP-FB-Autoconnect. I started seeing an error last week on one of our newest sites. When I am not logged into the site and I click the Facebook button on our Login page, the FB window pops-up and then disappears. This is happening on two out of our three public sites. I can replicate on both Chrome (regular and Incognito) and Safari, on 2 different versions of wp-fb-autoconnect and in both cases it didn’t seem to matter whether WP-FB-Premier was on or off:

    paddleboardhero.com
    WP 3.5.1, BP 1.7.1, wp-fb-autoconnect 2.3.4, Premier off

    birdhero.com
    WP 3.5.1, BP 1.7.1, wp-fb-autoconnect 3.1.0, Premier off

On this site it works as expected. The window does open and disappear but my credentials must be saved. Works with both Premier on and off.

    surfhero.net
    WP 3.5.1, BP 1.7.1, wp-fb-autoconnect 2.3.4, Premier off

I checked and re-checked that all apps were set-up the same way on Facebook. I am only using the Completely perplexed I created a staging site on WPEngine.

    paddleboard.staging.wpengine.com
    WP 3.5.1, BP 1.7.1, wp-fb-autoconnect 2.3.4 and 3.1.0, Premier on/off

I deactivated all plugins except wp-fb-autoconnect and Buddypress (since it foundational to what we do). Problem still exists regardless of whether I use 2.3.4 or 3.1.0 of the plugin.

I get the following JS console error: Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL https://www.facebook.com/dialog/oauth?client_id=XXXXX… The frame requesting access set ‘document.domain’ to ‘facebook.com’, but the frame being accessed did not. Both must set ‘document.domain’ to the same value to allow access.

However I get this same error with SurfHero.net but it gets removed from the console upon login.

At a loss here and hoping someone will have some ideas here. Lots of threads in Stack Overflow for this ‘Unsafe Javascript attempt’ issue but didn’t find anything that appeared relevant to this plug-in.

Usually people post support requests like these via the support page (http://www.justin-klein.com/projects/wp-fb-autoconnect) so I can respond to them personally, but…

…I can’t find any login buttons on any of paddleboardhero.com, birdhero.com, surfhero.net, or paddleboard.staging.wpengine.com – so I can’t reproduce or see the problem for myself. The “unsafe javascript” error is irrelevant and can be ignored. Since you did mention being on wpengine, my first reaction – without being able to see the problem myself – is to check FAQ100.b.

I am happy to move this thread to your support page. Let me know if that’s preferred.

I reactivated the plugin on the staging site and surfhero.net. But I must leave it deactivated on the other sites because users are complaining.

Read FAQ 100.B. I will take that into consideration if the problem remains on the live sites but note the following: http://support.wpengine.com/staging/. No cache on staging server.

I wound up deleting my app on FB and recreating it. Plugin works now. Have no idea what I did differently as I use the same process each time but at least it works. Closing ticket.

Cool, glad you got it 🙂

Exact same problem arose for us.

We have several sites working with plugin, but latest one (configured exactly same as other sites) fails in same way you describe above.

Will try deleting and recreating the app on FB.

Hi, I’m having the exact same problem as described above. Deleting and recreating the app doesn’t work.

I’m also trying to migrate my site from AWS to WPEngine and the plugin worked great before(even with caching plugin like w3-total-cache’). THere is no way for me to just turn off caching within wpengine as that is something they do internally. Is this a known issue that it doesn’t work with wpengine’s aggressive caching?

I’d love to get this solved and would appreciate any help.

    Thanks!

You have to contact the staff, they can add a caching exception for that plugin folder on the server.
