Favicons with Twenty Ten theme

I have created a favicon.ico with the dimensions of 16×16 and uploaded to my root file directory. However the favicon is not displaying in my browser.

Is there any easy way to create a favicon, and I don’t see a favicon.ico in the original twenty ten file directory, so I am wondering if this theme supports favicons?
