Favicon for Twenty Ten 1.0 Theme (12 posts)

    Hi,

    I recently changed themes from the Atahualpa 3.5.3 to the Twenty Ten 1.0 theme. There was quite a nice function within the Atahualpa theme whereby one could easily add in a Favicon.

    Can any give me any tips on how to add one in using the Twenty Ten 1.0 theme? I am pretty sure it is possible but I have absolutely no idea where to begin or look.

    Cheers,

    The quickest method would be to copy the favicon file to your root folder (where you WP is installed), then navigate to you theme's folder and edit the header.css file.

    There just add this code (complete it with your domain name and preserve the favicon's file name and type):

    <link rel="icon" href="http://www.YourDomainName.com/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

    thanks for this. I cannot find a header.css file in the theme's folder.

    The only .css file types are editor-style.css, editor-stylertl.css, rtl.css and style.css.

    Can it be edited maybe in the header.php? Or is it one of the .css files above?

    Put it in the <head> of header.php

    Hello AdrianApan/Agatha1, I picked this thread up, but am still struggling with it and wondering if you would help me. I am using Twenty Ten 1.1 and have tried pasting in <link rel="icon" href="http://www.MyDomain.com/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> in several places under <head> in the theme header.php file (with my domain entered), but I can't make the favicon appear. Is the location of this code within the <head> section of the code critical? Any other suggestions towards getting this working? I have the favicon in the website root folder. Cheers

    Hey! A link to your website would be useful ...

    OK, sure - it is http://www.wattcraft.com. The code I entered was:

    <link rel="icon" href="http://www.wattcraft.com/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

    The locations I tried were directly under <head>, then under <meta charset="<?php bloginfo( 'charset' ); ?>" /> and then above <link rel="profile" href="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11" /> under ?></title>

    Cheers

    As far as you can see in the screenshot for me it's working (Firefox), tested also in Chrome, IE and Safari ...

    Maybe you just have a browser cache issue.

    Try use another browser or clear your browsers cache etc.

    Good luck,
    Adrian

    Thank you very much Adrian - that was very helpful. I cleared the cache for both browsers I checked on (Chrome and IE) and it worked.

    Cheers

    Rupert
