Try re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress 2.5.1

    Thank you esmi.

I've managed to solve the problem by updating to Version 2.9.2.

The problem i'm getting now is from my host (awardspace) error 404 when I try to log in through admin.

    Help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

I suggest you to clear the cache and have a check. Also upgrade your wordpress version to the latest version to rules out of any vulnerability/hack issue of your site.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

    @ esmi:

Yes the log in screen is fine but when i try and log in, awardspace directs me to this page:

    http://www.awardspace.com/web-hosting-notice/error-404

    @ Shane G:
When you say clearing the cache you mean deleting cookies, history etc?
If so I did that. I also upgraded to 2.9.2, but awardspace is still giving me the same error when I log in.

The URL values in Settings/General may have been set incorrectly. If you have access to phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel), access the WordPress database and ensure that the siteurl and home values are set to http://softcreations.awardspace.com/wordpress

    Follow this guide:

    @ macmanx

I have checked the siteurl and its set correctly to http://softcreations.awardspace.com/wordpress but I could not find home values.

I've managed to solve the problem by replacing the wp-admin folder with an older one. I managed to log in.

I'm not sure if this is the correct way and what are the repercussions. But at least I got to my dashboard.

Let me know what you think...

Did you replace it with one from WordPress 2.9.2? If not, you're going to encounter some very interesting problems.

From the previous version I had which was 2.5.1.

    What sort of problems?

    2.9.2 is giving me problems.

Well you're using administration files for WordPress 2.5.1 along with includes files and a database for 2.9.2. If you haven't run into problems yet, you will. Believe me, you will.

Try downloading WordPress again and upload a new copy of the /wp-admin/ directory.

So what i did was d/l wordpress 2.9.2. again. Deleted wp-admin(2.5.1) from the remote site to make sure (something i didnt do before) and uploaded wp-admin 2.9.2. The dashboard is totally different it looks great!

Thanks to all for the amazing support!!
