Ever since trying to upgrade my site to version 3.6 (which didnt seem to actually work because it still says I am running 3.5.2 and prompting me to upgrade to 3.6 even though it said the install was successful) I have been seeing this error appearing for several plugins, even for the WordPress blog section on the front page...

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_safe_remote_request() in /home/thepip6/public_html/wp-includes/class-feed.php on line 80

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_safe_remote_request() in /home/thepip6/public_html/wp-includes/class-feed.php on line 80

    Any ideas?

  2. [Moved to How To and Troubleshooting]

    Have you tried the following?

    See: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/troubleshooting-wordpress-36-master-list

Deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can't get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin (read "How to deactivate all plugins when you can't log in to wp-admin" if you need help). Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Switching to the Twenty Twelve theme to rule out any theme-specific problems. If you can't log in to change themes, you can remove the theme folders via FTP so the only one is twentytwelve. That will force your site to use it.

When all else fails, download a fresh copy of the latest.zip file of 3.6 (top right on this page) to your computer, and use that to copy up. You may need to delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders on your server. Read the Manual Update directions first.

I have disabled all my plugins. Ironically after I disabled all my plugins at the same time it led me to a page with a similar "Fatal error"

I am still getting this fatal error on my dashboard

I am also getting the fatal error when trying to use the "search" feature within wordpress to download the 2012 theme which I cant do =(

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_safe_remote_request() in /home/thepip6/public_html/wp-includes/class-feed.php on line 80

  5. Manually reinstall WP, see if that helps.
