    Hi Sarah,

    Thanks for testing this out! Can you let me know if you’re still seeing this error with the latest version of the plugin?

    If so, what mailserver settings are you using?

    Hi,

    I love the idea of this plugin, but can’t get it to work. I am getting a fatal error on “Check Now” as well:

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 261900 bytes) in /home/content/20/9616820/html/wp-content/plugins/post-by-email/include/Horde/Imap/Client/Socket/Pop3.php on line 1088

    If I let an automatic check go on there is no error, but it isn’t grabbing my test email post either.

    I have PHP 5.3.24 with WordPress 3.6.1 and a POP mail server.

    Thanks!

    Hi amar22,

    Thanks for reporting this issue!

    With the automatic check, does the plugin log anything in the activity log, or is it just empty?

    If you connect over IMAP, does the same thing happen? Is your test email very large (e.g. maybe has attachments)?

    Hi Kat,

    With the activity log, the automatic check posts the last time it checked and the next scheduled check but nothing else. My test email is just the title “Test Article” in the subject of the email and a few lines of gibberish (no attachments, etc.). They have also been only text emails (not html).

    I haven’t tried with IMAP only POP. Will see if I can attempt today. I downloaded the latest update this morning and when I tried “Check Now” with that I received an internal server error.

    Thanks for your response. I’ll keep trying on my end to get it to work…

    Hmm, that’s no good. Maybe you could try enabling WP_DEBUG in your wp-config.php and seeing if that gets it to print out an actual error message instead of just an internal server error? (e.g. http://codex.wordpress.org/WP_DEBUG )

    You can also see if there’s anything being reported in your Apache error log (usually something like /var/log/apache2/error_log but it depends on your system).

    It might be a good idea to completely delete the plugin and reinstall from scratch, just in case a file got messed up somewhere along the line.

    Sorry you’re having so much trouble with it! Please let me know how it goes.

    I’m marking this as resolved since there was no response after 1 month. If anyone else encounters this memory issue and can provide answers to the above, I’d love to know what was causing it!

    No prob. I never got it to work, so I just stopped trying. I’ll give it another shot next time I feel like experimenting with it and let you know how it goes. Thanks for the plug in and for all of your help!

    Hi All,

    I am still getting this error. I read through this thread and it seems that there is still an unresolved issue.

    * I use POP (IMAP not an option)
    * I get the “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 261900 bytes) in /home/content/38/12075838/html/wp-content/plugins/post-by-email/include/Horde/Imap/Client/Socket/Pop3.php on line 1088” error also mentioned earlier and then intermittently during my testing I would get the “Internal Server Error”.
    * When I refresh the screen I see the log entry: “wait 5 minutes to try again”.
    * I use WordPress 3.7.2
    * I use plugin Version 1.0.4b

    Please assist!!!
