I’m having the same problem when I tried doing the auto upgrade to 3.6.
I am unable to login. Every page throws up the same error message.
What can I do to get my site back online?
One of the websites I run has had the same issue. I’ve tried logging in using wp-login.php, but I still get the same error message.
The website address is: http://edtechandtesol.info/phd/

I solved my problem with this issue by downloading the installation files and uploading them to my site, instead of using the auto updater. It worked ok again when I did this.
Given that no one has answered or addressed this problem — The issue is the the files in the update zip archives are being auto-extracted to a directory of /wordpress/ rather than directly to where WordPress is actually installed and the auto update is setting the existing files to empty (0 byte) files during the process. So all require and include statements fail to load the actual functions and values.
