   I have tried installing wordpress to 2 places /blog and /wordpress.

   I keep getting messages like this:

   Fatal error: Call to undefined function language_attributes() in /home/fhlinux173/e/economicshelp.org/user/htdocs/blog/wp-admin/install.php on line 19

   Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp() in /home/fhlinux173/e/economicshelp.org/user/htdocs/wordpress/wp-blog-header.php on line 18

   any ideas?

   I'd start over.

   Download a new copy of the WordPRess files from the link at the top of this page.

   Delete what is now on your host.

   Upload the new files.

   Please review Uploading WordPress to a remote host. Download Filezilla and use that to upload files.

   the strange thing is I was able to install it on another site
   on the same server, with the same set of files.

   I will try filezilla though ( i was using dreamweaver)

   I uploaded with filezilla but still get same problem

   arse error: syntax error, unexpected '.' in /home/fhlinux173/e/economicshelp.org/user/htdocs/blog/wp-includes/user.php on line 183

   It was fresh download of wordpress 2.3
