[resolved] Fatal error: Call to a member function add_rewrite_tag() on a non-object (7 posts)

I have been trying to upgrade my installation from 2.8.4, but after the install (which reports as successful) my site is unreachable with this error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function add_rewrite_tag() on a non-object in /home/nore9152/public_html/home/wp-includes/taxonomy.php on line 333

I've tried upgrading both through cPanel via my webhost, and directly from my WordPress Dashboard, but get the same error both times. I can reinstall from a local backup and everything works fine again, but I'm back to the old version. Any clues?

    Thanks

That was far too big an upgrade to carry out in a single step. See http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress_Extended

You should now be able to upgrade to 3.3.1

Did a manual upgrade to 3.3.1... everything worked until I re-activated my plugins, then got the same fatal error.

Deleted 3.3.1, re-installed 3.0... still the same fatal error.

Deleted the plugin folder, everything worked again.

Re-installed my plugins one-by-one until I found the one causing the problems. At last, everything is fixed!

    Many thanks for your help,
    Matt
