So, weird error. I install, activate and get the Fatal Error message at the top of my plugins page. But the plugin still activates. I can't get pages to display in my sidebar (like a previous commentor).
When I try Categories it screws up my layout (but that could just be my template/theme), and Archives also shows nothing.
Any ideas?
A link to your site would make things easier.
First: always do testing in the default theme.
Second: turn "open to selection" off for pages and tell me if it helps.

I actually got a fatal error myself. The plugin does activate, and seems to be working properly. The following is what I get:
