[resolved] fatal error because I tried to make a child theme (2 posts)

    This is my website lisaradon.com, and I have really screwed it up today because I was trying to be smart and make a child theme to make a couple minor adjustments to the theme I was using, f8-lite.

    I followed instructions found here (http://themeshaper.com/2009/04/17/wordpress-child-theme-basics/) to make a child theme.

    I clearly did something wrong because I received this fatal error

    Warning: require_once(/home/radon/lisaradon/wp-content/themes/f8child/theme-options.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/radon/lisaradon/wp-content/themes/f8-lite/functions.php on line 4

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/radon/lisaradon/wp-content/themes/f8child/theme-options.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php:/usr/local/php5/lib/pear') in /home/radon/lisaradon/wp-content/themes/f8-lite/functions.php on line 4

    I clicked back on my browser and saw that the child theme was recognized in the browser...I tried to activate a different theme but continued to get the error.

    Since then, I tried various things to fix what the theme seems to be looking for. No luck.

    I deleted the child theme using ftp, thinking theme would revert to default. Still getting fatal error when try to access dashboard.

    Then I recreated a directory with the child theme name and put all of the parent themes files in it, thinking that the browser would then find what it needed to work or at least revert to default. Nope.

    Then I renamed the child theme because I read somewhere that that would make WP revert to default theme. Nope.

    Anyone have ideas of what I should do next? Wondering if it would help if I replaced the entire themes folder or...

    Thank you in advance for help.

    Lisa

    Fixed by reinstalling.
