    I just logged into a client's site to do some things for him and noticed an update for WordPress. So I thought I'd install it for him seeing as I was there....

    First I got the message "Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute". I commented out line 50 in the the wp-settings .php to this: //wp_maintenance();

    Then I got this Fatal error: Cannot redeclare wp_explain_nonce() (previously declared in /var/www/vhosts/thenakedlandscaper.com/httpdocs/wp-includes/functions.php:1858) in /var/www/vhosts/thenakedlandscaper.com/httpdocs/wp-includes/deprecated.php on line 3176 and I am stumped.

    Any help gratefully received :)

    Reverse your changes to wp-settings.php. Never, ever, edit core files.

    @esmi - how do I solve the "Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute" problem then?

    FTP into your site (or whatever file management application your host provides) & delete the .maintenance file in the site's root folder.

    I was attempting to install a Blog Stats plugin and received a Fatal Error message. I am not able to get back to the site.

    The error message is: Fatal error: Call to undefined function screen_icon() in D:\hosting\10523580\html\wp-content\plugins\wp-post-stats\post-stats-options.php on line 148

    Is there away to recover the site and fix this?

    Thanks.
    Bruce K.

    FTP into your site (or whatever file management application your host provides) & delete the wp-content\plugins\wp-post-stats folder.

    And next time (and as per the Forum Welcome) please post your own topic.
