There are links that tell you how to manually install πŸ™‚ Which is what you want to try.

Use WordPress 3.4.1 though, not 3.4

Thank you so much, but I don’t understand how to do any of this other than downloading 3.4.1 and extracting it on my computer. Beyond that, I am lost.

Is there an easier way for me to do this or understand it? I’m really ignorant when it comes to this part of it – get me into the dashboard and I’m good.

Sorry to be a bother – I’m just this lost.

Sorry – no. You need to learn these skills to be able to manage you WordPress site effectively. Or you need to hire someone to carry out the work for you.

Where do I find someone to hire? Who can I trust? I don’t have much income yet – that’s what the site is for – helping me find clients. I’m working many hours a week and trying to learn this is beyond my time limits at this time.

    Thank you,
    Joy

I gave you a link above.

I wasn’t sure what to do with the link. It looked like people looking for work. I posted a job out there. Hopefully I’ll hear back soon.

Thank you for doing what you could – I wish I had the time to learn this now. I’m in one of “those” places – working more than full time, a sick mom I care for, a marriage, etc. Much like everyone else you know.

    It’s hard to need help.

Thanks again. I haven’t heard from anyone yet. Do you know an approx time? This website is my main income source.

Quick question: they mention fixing this using the cPanel. What cPanel? I know I’m ignorant. Is this on my computer or inside my WP site. I can’t get into the site so I can only hope it’s on my computer.

    Thank you,
    Joy

they mention fixing this using the cPanel

    Who mentioned this?

    What cPanel?

    Hosting account management software.

Is this on my computer or inside my WP site.

It’s part of your hosting account.

The documentation in one of the links. I’ve started the download for FileZilla as reccommened. Talk about walking in the dark.

Not all hosts use cPanel but they will all offer some sort of account/site management application. Try asking your hosts what they offer. If you want to use Filezilla & FTP, your hosts should also be able to provide you with your FTP connection details.

    (@joyedekok)

I’m using GoDaddy and am in the FTP files – deleted the whole file plug-ins. Nothing good came from that. I’ve uploaded FileZilla and have no idea what to do next. I talked to them yesterday and they said they can’t offer me any help at all, and sent me here to the forum.

    By them, I mean GoDaddy.

Is there a way to completely shut this site down and start over from scratch without re-purchasing anything?

Go right back to GoDaddy and ask them to please provide you with your FTP connection details.

Your FTP hostname will probably be http://ftp.socialmediainfusion.net but your FTP username and password will be unique to you and will have been originally set up by GoDaddy.

Do not allow GoDaddy to fob you off about these details. This is very much their job and part of what you are paying them for. Once you have FTP access we can see about creating a blank plugins folder.
