Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in /home/athrift1/public_html/wp-admin/menu.php on line 241

I get this code at random times...updating plugins and even trying to go from one screen to the other... is this a wordpress issue or a server tech support tissue?

If you're on shared hosting you wont have a php.ini file, in which case try step 2 or 3.

Sorry but that's incorrect. Some hosts offering shared hosting provide access to domain specific php.ini files - just like .htaccess files.

@athriftymom: who manages the server for you?
