I know this isn't strictly a WordPress problem but I thought someone might know. I upgraded to WP 2.2.1 manually since I don't trust Fatastico Deluxe to do it for me. But I'm still getting tons of Fantastico De Luxe Outdated Installations Notification emails, even though I haven't entered my email address in it for notifications (I checked, the email form is blank)
Has anyone done a manual upgrade and then somehow told Fantastico that they did it?
if you look in the root of the install, where wp-config.php is, you will find a file named fantversion.php. That file stores the version number that fantastico deluxe checks.
edit the file, putting in the new version number.

Thanks. That's an awfully manual way to do this. Does the upgrade process not update that file?
Oh well, time to start changing that for all my WP sites.
thats a file generated by fantastico -- so no. Why would a wordpress upgrade change a fantastico file.. :)
Fantastico assumes that if you installed via it, youre going to upgrade via it. If you do, then it makes the change.

Aha. Makes sense, I guess. Although Fatastico is fine for install but crap for upgrading but whatever.

I upgraded them all and changed the file but I'[m still getting the notifications. Hmmm....

I had the same problem as you. As your webhost is probably not offering 2.2.1 yet, Fantastico somehow doesn't realise that you've upgraded, but if you edit the version file to list version 2.2 instead of 2.2.1 it stops pestering you...

fantversion.php is reporting version 2.2.1, which is the version installed and updated by Fantastico. The server is still sending me the outdated notice.
Even stranger, I am also getting the notice for an installation on a domain that no longer exists.
What to do?
For my sites, I deleted the fantversion.php file and upgrade manually.
If that doesn't help, contact your web host.
Of you could set your email filters to discard email from fantastico.
