• i am currently having a problem with the fancybox for wp plugin.
it looks like the java script is not being loaded into the html.

it worked before but apparently i messed up something that i don’t know what it was. ever since the pictures are displayed in the browser window instead of in the fancybox.

the page i am talking about is this one:
    http://felixseuffert.de/wordpress/about-3/ahne-ahne/

i already re-installed the plugin but it just wouldn’t work.
    all help is appreciated.

    thanks,
    felix

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all other plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    thanks for your reply.
just tried twenty ten, and yes it works with that theme.
unfortunately i cant find why it doesn’t with the other theme, even if i deactivate the other plugins. any ideas?

Does your original theme have an attachment.php or image.php template file?

no, it doesnt. i wrote it from scratch. the fancybox worked with my theme before. but i changed something and simply don’t know what it is.

Try creating an attachment.php template file using the same template file in Twenty Ten as an example.

okay, i’ll try that. what exactly will it do and how do i use it?

It is simply a template file that is used for file attachments and images (assuming image.php doesn’t exist). You don’t have to do anything with it. WordPress will use it automatically.

okay, that works. but it does not replace the fancybox.
    any other ideas?

Does that particular plugin require you add a small snippet of HTML code to the template file? Some thing like rel="fancybox" or similar?

telling from the source code when i use the other themes it needs a lot more than that. i copied that manually into header.php and it works now (see: http://felixseuffert.de/wordpress/about-3/ahne-ahne/). still it is quite strange that it is not including that code into the template automtically.

Some plugins do everything automatically. Others may be intended for more experienced web devs who prefer to add code to themes themselves. Glad to hear that you’ve got it working though.

yeah. this one is meant to be one of the fire-and-forget plugins. anyway, thanks a lot for your support.

    No problem 🙂
