Fast Secure Contact Form
Fake path not showing - attachment field (40 posts)

I don't know how I did it but I managed to hide the 'C:\fakepath\file' thing when a user selects a file to be sent through the contact form. This is a bad idea because users wouldn't know the file is selected. It shows for a different form but not on that one. Any idea what's wrong?

    Much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi bflo, you mention the following.....

It shows for a different form but not on that one. Any idea what's wrong?

I suspect that you have enable the hide label option in the field settings.

    Kind regards

    Hi mbrsolution,

It looks like that's not the issue.

    Anyway thanks for trying!

Any ideas anyone? Probably this is a CSS thing, might be something trivial for a CSS Whizz...

Hi bflo, can you share with us your URL so that we can check.

Do you have more than 1 form? If you do have more than 1 form have you checked the settings on your forms to see if they are the same?

    Kind regards

Hi Flo, I had a look at your URL above can you point me to the part of the form you are having problems with. Also perhaps you could also share the URL of the form that works so that I can compare both forms.

    Kind regards

    Hi mbrsolution,

It's the Attach your CV field that is giving me trouble. The other form that works just fine can be found at http://inboxtranslation.com/interpreter-jobs/

    Many thanks,
    Flo

Hi Flo, I had a look at both URLs and there is not much of a difference between one form and the other form.

Try the following, copy the form settings from the good form into a new form and or try the faulty form. You will find this option under the Tools tab on the menu.

Let me know if this helps you.

    Kind regards

Yes, I know there doesn't seem to be any difference but I'm sure there is something somewhere.

Anyway thanks for helping and will give it a try to see how it goes.

    Thanks,
    Flo

Hi Flo which method did you try, copy from good to new or copy from good to faulty? As a last resort why don't you create a new one, perhaps the current faulty form is buggy. This is just a theory of mine, sometimes starting new is the method rather than spending hours trying to troubleshoot a problem.

Let me know what you think.

    Kind regards

I think that is controlled by the browser, you cannot change it.

Hi @Mike, yes I understand what you mean. The strange factor here is that the two forms are almost identical, one displays the path and the other doesn't in the same browser. I have tested this on Google Chrome for example.

    Very strange ;)

mbrsolution I did good to faulty but will try again good to new.

I'm not bothered if I need to start from scratch as long as it works. Anyway, thanks for the ideas, will give it a go soon!

Mike, thanks for dropping by, much appreciated. As mbrsolution said, this looks more like a form issue rather than a browser thing.

    Thanks guys!

Hi Flo, I had another look at the following forms in Firefox and Google Chrome and both forms work.

    1. Form 1
    2. Form 2

    Hey Manuel,

Form 2 is the same as Form 1 (I mean old, untouched by me and working), it is only the form on the test page (http://inboxtranslation.com/test-page/) that is not working and I need it done.

Hi Flo this is very strange. Create a page and call it what ever you want. In that page add a default form and only add one extra field to attached a file. Another words this from should have only five fields.

    Lets see if this works.

    Kind regards

    Hi mbrsolution

Just done that on the same http://inboxtranslation.com/test-page/ page, is this OK?

    Thanks,
    Flo

Hi Flo, the reason why I mentioned another page because maybe your test-page is corrupted somehow. Can you create a page give a name"different name altogether" and only have the default fields plus an attachment field that is all. This will allow me to test whether my theory is right :)

    Thank you.

    http://inboxtranslation.com/test-page-2/

Hi Flo, can you read the following URL and let me know if this is what you are doing when adding the field to the form.

    Kind regards

Hi mbrsolution, I can't see anything different than what I'm doing (apart from that being a slightly older version of FSCF)as I've been using this plugin for some time...

    Many thanks,
    Flo

Can you test a different theme like Twenty Thirteen or so from wordpress? What theme are you currently using? Can you also update to the latest version.

    Thank you

I'm afraid I can't change the theme as this is a live site (it's a custom built one based on Genesis framework) and this shouldn't affect it in any way as it works with other forms. Wouldn't you agree?

Hi Flo, many times it is a theme that causes problems with a plugin or plugins. That is not to say that it is the themes fault as it could be the plugin that is coded incorrectly. However because you mentioned

(it's a custom built one based on Genesis framework)

That lets me to believe that your theme could be causing this conflict on the attached field in your contact form.

Have you got a testing site? It would be great if you did so that you could test this theory of mine.

    Kind regards

I see what you mean but what about the other forms that work just fine? Wouldn't the supposedly bad theme affect the others forms too?

    Thanks,
    Flo
