   I have just upgraded to version 2.9.1 from 2.8.6 of WordPress and find that I am unable to upload ane media files.
   Everything else looks fine except uploading media like jpg images.

   The error I am getting is -

   Unable to create directory /home/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2010/02. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
   where
   xxxxxx is the site login

   Now I have checked that permissions are set to 755 for all parent directories, however I fail to upload.

   Has the install gone wrong (its functioning otherwise) and I need a re-install, or is there a setting that needs to be twigged.

   Try setting "uploads" to 777 and then try an upload. If it works then after that set it back to 755 and try again. According to Samboll in this forum sometimes it needs sort of a wake-up.
