Failure to get a new user registration via OpenID

When I try to register a new account on my WP site, all I get is the error message “Your have entered a valid OpenID, but this site is not currently accepting new accounts.”. When I login to the users list of the site admin dashboard, however, a new user shows up in the list. When logging in with the same OpenID, I get the same error message, and a duplicate user shows up in the user list. The general settings in the site settings allow any user to register, even without an OpenID. I am running OpenID 3.3.4, and I am unsucessfully registering with a Yahoo! OpenID (https://me.yahoo.com/yourusernameorprofileid), although I can login successfully as myself (as the site admin) when logging in with my Google Profiles OpenID (http://profiles.google.com/yourgoogle+id). Is there a way to fix this problem?
