Failure to Connect with FTP (7 posts)

When I try adding a plugin, upgrading WordPress, or changing File Permissions in the dashboard of my website, I need to log in to my FTP. I use the same settings that I use to normally connect to my FTP, but it doesn't work in the WordPress dashboard. This is a pain, because I hate manually updating everything.

Instead, I get a blank page. The link that I get is
    http://thecpcove.co.cc/wp-admin/update.php?action=install-plugin&plugin=wp-useronline&_wpnonce=359311b36f

Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

    P.S. I am running WordPress 2.8

Thats exactly what I get and its so ridicilous. I can enter my FTP via a FTP program but wordpress can not connect my FTP,everytime it gives blank pages.

PS : My safe mode is off. So it should be working. I guess.

I am also having difficulties with WP FTP.

    In transmit I have this:

    and in wordpress these setting

but whereas transmit works great, the ftp ofwordpress just gives me errors..

Sometimes it depends on some settings on the hosting service. Here is a compatibility list

I had the same problems, then realized my server needed some configuration (beyond the normal ftp login data), and all is fine now.

@Kadr - Try to talk to your host. They may be able to configure the settings. Looking at their ftp layer needed for joomla, the same could be done for your WordPress installation...

Edit: The link gets cut because of a special character in the url
copy and paste the full line to get to that page.

actually, the information there provided for Joomla worked just fine for WordPress.

Thanx a lot for pointing the page out to me!
