Failed upgrade to 3.1

    Clicked auto upgrade and got an error message. Went in and did a manual re-install (ie copied all the 3.1 files across), still nothing. Copied all the files across a second time, deleted all plugins and themes and got an “Update your database” message and clicked on that and the site was back. As soon as I went in and made some changes to the theme it disappeared again. I just get a blank screen. Have gone and deleted everything except the config file and tried recopying all the WP files again, but still nothing.

    Any thoughts?

    Did you overwrite or delete and reupload when you did a manual upgrade.

    Overwrite initially. Then I deleted and copied again. Still no action.

    Do you still have a backup of database?
    May be your theme is not compatible with 3.1 switch to default twenty ten theme and see if you still have problems.

    I don’t think I have a backup of the database, which was why I was keeping the config file intact.

    I’ve removed all themes except twenty ten theme but there is no action at all. I just get a blank white screen.

    I figured out there was an error in the config file. Can you tell me what the error message

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_option() in /home/stressfr/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 32

    might mean please?
